Every week, there’s a flood of new music, making it tricky to decide what to hit play on first.
Perfume Genius: Glory [Matador]
After the mysterious vibes of last year’s Ugly Season, Mike Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius, shifts back to more traditional tunes in his latest album. The first songs released—“It’s a Mirror” and “No Front Teeth” with Aldous Harding—might trick you into expecting something loud and wild, but Glory is actually his most chill album in ages. Yet, even with its calmness, there are magical moments that shine bright. For instance, “Me & Angel” might just be a nod to Celine Dion. And then there’s “In a Row,” which could become his new favorite song to end concerts with instead of “Queen.”
You can listen on Apple Music or Spotify. Tidal and Amazon Music have it too. If you’re into buying music directly from artists, check out Bandcamp or Rough Trade.
Fans sometimes find it hard to keep up with so much good music coming out all at once.
