The Babies are making a grand comeback. It’s been a hot minute—since 2013, to be exact. This indie-rock ensemble, a melting pot of talents including Kevin Morby and Cassie Ramone, alongside bassist Brian Schleyer and drummer Justin Sullivan, is set to hit the stage once more. Their first stop? Los Angeles, on a breezy September 18 evening, followed by a night in Brooklyn on September 24. And guess what? PG14 and Joanna Sternberg are warming up the crowds in LA and Brooklyn, respectively. Dive into the deets below.
Back in the day, Morby and Ramone were stirring up the indie scene with Woods and Vivian Girls. It was 2008 in New York when they decided to blend their musical genius, giving birth to The Babies. They dropped two albums that pretty much defined an era—2011’s The Babies and 2012’s Our House on the Hill. Then, as all good things often do, they hit pause in 2014, leaving fans hanging on a cliffhanger.

Morby spilled the beans recently, saying, “I’ve been getting asked at my solo shows for years if and when the Babies will reunite, and I’m glad I finally have an answer.” Picture this: the gang, back together for a photoshoot at the Chelsea Hotel. It was like no time had passed. Morby, chilling on his couch, strumming his guitar, found himself drifting back to those Babies classics. That’s when the light bulb flickered on—it was time.
Ramone chimed in with her two cents, reminiscing about the last time they all shared a space. It was at their final gig at the Satellite in LA. “Although I’ve stayed friends with everyone, there’s something magical about us reconnecting as a group,” she said. They’ve been having a blast, just like old times, and Ramone is buzzing about hitting the stage again. And let’s not forget the merch—apparently, it’s going to be sick. She’s just hoping her fingers remember how to dance along those familiar frets.
