Bill Callahan Announces New Live Album Resuscitate

Bill Callahan is releasing a live album called Resuscitate!, which he recorded during his YTILAER tour.

The performance took place at Chicagoโ€™s Thalia Hall on March 6, 2023, with Matt Kinsey on guitar, Dustin Laurenzi on alto saxophone, and Jim White playing drums. Special guests included Nathaniel Ballinger on piano, Pascal Kerongโ€™A singing, Nick Mazzarella also on alto saxophone, Joshua Abrams playing the guembri, and Lisa Alvarado handling the harmonium.

Resuscitate! will be available starting July 26 through Drag City. Bill shared his thoughts about the album in a press statement:

This live album captures songs from the YTILAER tour. Songs evolve after recording; these changed quickly. Think of Bruce Bannerโ€™s transformationโ€”these songs were gaining superpowers. Documenting this was essential for me to move forward creatively.

The show was in Chicago at Thalia Hallโ€”a top venue free from Live Nation/Ticketmaster ties. Thalia Hall rocks! Stay independent.

I think it’s cool how artists like to document their work so they can move on to new things.
