Black Belt Eagle Scout Launches GoFundMe After Medical Emergency Cancels Shows

Katherine Paul, known as Black Belt Eagle Scout, is raising money for medical help due to some serious nervous-system issues.

She’s had to call off her concerts because a neurologist advised it. On social media, she shared a GoFundMe link asking for support with living and medical costs. The goal is $75,000.

Paul shared her journey online:

This year started rough with strange symptoms I thought were from pinched nerves. After many doctor visits and tests, fighting hard in the medical system, MRIs gave me some answers. Now, I’m working with a top neurologist in Seattle who thinks I might have relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). More tests are coming up and my energy and mobility are really affected.

The GoFundMe page mentions that MRI tests after Paul’s scary health crisis suggested this diagnosis. She’s now seeing a leading neurologist at the Virginia Mason Multiple Sclerosis Center in Seattle for more tests and treatment. The doctor told her to rest and focus on getting better.

Her latest album The Land, the Water, the Sky came out in early 2023. She was touring globally and had planned shows with Sleater-Kinney this year but had to cancel them all. One canceled show was supposed to happen this Saturday at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park with Watchhouse.

I think it must be very tough for her right now.

It’s like life threw a curveball at her when she least expected it
