Black Keys Arena Tour Canceled, Downsizing Venues

The Black Keys have decided to cancel their arena tour that was supposed to kick off in September, opting instead for smaller, more intimate venues.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney were inspired by their recent European tour in midsize locations and want to recreate that cozy vibe for their fans back home. Although they haven’t shared the new dates yet, they’re working on it.

Initially, the band planned a big tour from September through November with stops at huge places like Madison Square Garden and United Center. However, they will still be performing at the NASCAR Chicago Street Race this July. Their newest album, Ohio Players, came out in April.

I think it’s cool when bands choose smaller venues; it feels more personal.

Here’s what was supposed to happen:

~~09-17 Tulsa, OK – BOK Center~~
~~09-18 Austin, TX – Moody Center~~
~~09-20 Dallas, TX – American Airlines Center~~
~~09-21 Houston, TX – Toyota Center~~
…and many more dates were planned but now scratched off!

They had quite a lineup of shows with The Head and the Heart joining them on several dates.
