Body Meat Releases Debut Album Starchris & New Song Video

Body Meat, a.k.a. Chris Taylor from Philadelphia, is dropping his first-ever album. It’s called Starchris, and it’s hitting the shelves on August 23, thanks to Partisan. Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Taylor just dropped the album’s lead single, “High Beams.” Imagine trap, nu-metal, and dance having a wild party. That’s this song. And it’s all about a programmer’s epic showdown with a first-level boss. Oh, and there’s a music video too. You’ve gotta check it out.

“High Beams” isn’t just any track. Picture this: a programmer, huddled in a cave, coding his heart out. He’s crafting a game world, complete with rules, physics, the works. Then, he tries to clone himself into this digital Eden. But, oops, a coding slip-up leads to a bug. This digital clone starts hunting him down. No matter what he does, he can’t shake it off. It’s like a bad dream, except it’s all too real. The programmer realizes this isn’t the first time he’s been in this mess. The clone, it seems, is trying to send him a message.

Starchris is more than just an album. It’s a journey, inspired by RPGs, filled with boss battles, cutscenes, and moments of self-discovery. Although it’s Taylor’s debut album, he’s no stranger to the music scene. Since 2016, he’s been releasing EPs, records, and singles, like 2021’s Year of the Orc and 2019’s Truck Music. And in 2021, Body Meat got signed by Partisan.

So, what’s next for Body Meat? Well, if you’re curious, there was this interview with Pitchfork titled “Get to Know Body Meat, A Philly Weirdo Who’s Rewriting the Rules of Rhythm.” It’s quite the read.
