Bon Iver is dropping a new song and music video called “S P E Y S I D E” this Friday, September 20.
This track was produced by Justin Vernon alongside Jim-E Stack. Vernon collaborated with Ryan Olson and BJ Burton to write it. He also took care of the guitar, vocals, mixing, and engineering with Ian Gold’s help. Rob Moose added viola and string arrangements.
Since their album i,i in 2019, Bon Iver has released music sporadically. In 2020, they put out “PDLIF” and “AUATC,” while Vernon featured on Taylor Swift’s songs “Exile” and “Evermore” as well as the Japanese House’s “Dionne.”
The following years saw more tracks like “Second Nature,” “So Unimportant” with Ethan Gruska, and “Weird Goodbyes” with the National. They also went on a big tour during this time. In 2023, they continued touring and worked with Zach Bryan on “Boys of Faith.”
This year, Vernon played at a rally for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in his hometown Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Fans love how Bon Iver keeps surprising us.
