Crosby Stills Nash Young Release Unearthed Album Live Fillmore 1969

Rhino is putting out a live album from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young called Live at Fillmore East, 1969.

This album features their performance from September 20, 1969, in New York. The multi-track recording was recently found and mixed by Stephen Stills and Neil Young with John Hanlon at Sunset Sound in Hollywood. You can hear a live version of “Helplessly Hoping” below.

The album has an acoustic section with songs like “Helplessly Hoping,” the Beatles’ “Blackbird,” Buffalo Springfield’s “On the Way Home” and “Broken Arrow,” Déjà Vu’s “4 + 20,” and more. There’s also an electric part that includes “Sea of Madness” and “Down by the River.”

Graham Nash shared his thoughts: “Hearing the music again after all these years, I can tell how much we loved each other and loved the music that we were creating. We were four people reveling in the different sounds we were producing, quietly singing together on the one hand, then rocking like fuck for the rest of the concert.”

Fans really miss David Crosby.

Live at Fillmore East, 1969 will be available on October 25. This is their first archival release since David Crosby passed away in January 2023 at age 81.
