Daron Beck of Pinkish Black Dies at 48

Daron Beck, the frontman of Pinkish Black from Texas, has passed away.

The sad news was shared by Relapse Records on social media on August 23. They wrote: โ€œDaron was a kind, tremendously funny, and gentle soul that made some of the most creative and compelling music ever released on Relapse Records. Our hearts go out to his partner Lisa, mom Debbie, bandmate Jon, and everyone else that was lucky enough to cross paths with him.โ€ Beck died from natural causes after facing medical issues. He was 48.

In 2011, Daron Beck and drummer Jon Teague started Pinkish Black. Before this band, they were part of The Great Tyrant with bassist Tommy Atkins until Atkins took his own life in 2010.

Their first album came out in 2012 with Beck singing and playing keyboards while Teague handled drums. In 2013 they released Razed to the Ground, then their first album under Relapse Records titled Bottom of the Morning in 2015. Their fourth studio album called Concept Unification was released in 2019 followed by a collaboration with Yells at Eels named Vanishing Light in the Tunnel of Dreams in 2020.

Apart from Pinkish Black, Daron also played for Zombi & Friends which performed soft rock songs from the ’70s and ’80s. In 2018, people started a GoFundMe for him after he had two heart attacks.

Losing such a talented musician is really hard for fans to accept.

I remember hearing about his heart issues back thenโ€”life can be so unpredictable sometimes!
