Death Cab for Cutie is celebrating 20 years since Plans by performing some special concerts in August across Seattle, Chicago, and Brooklyn.
Their 2005 album will be played from start to finish at these events, featuring hits like “Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” and “Crooked Teeth.” Some shows will have Nation of Language or the American Analog Set as openers. Below you can find a trailer for these concerts and all their tour dates.
“Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever—it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations,” said frontman Benjamin Gibbard in a statement. “We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion.”
A fun twist happens on August 9 when they pause their Brooklyn shows to join My Chemical Romance in New Jersey. There they’ll perform during My Chemical Romance’s big event where The Black Parade takes center stage. But this isn’t part of their own anniversary gigs.
The band has been super busy lately! For two years straight, they’ve been rocking out with The Postal Service on a joint tour playing Transatlanticism, giving fans double excitement every night!
I think people really love seeing them perform live because it’s such an amazing experience.
