Devonté Hynes to Compose Music for New Broadway Play Job

Devonté Hynes, known as Blood Orange, is now part of the creative team for the play Job.

The show will feature his original music when it opens in July at Broadway’s Hayes Theater. “Dev’s storytelling talent shines through in his music, so it’s no shock that his work on Job enhances both its themes and emotions,” said producer Hannah Getts. “We’re excited to weave his unique musical style into Job.”

Job, written by Max Wolf Friedlich and directed by Michael Herwitz, stars Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon. After its Off-Broadway debut in 2023, the Broadway run kicks off on July 15 with an official opening on July 30, lasting until September 29.

I think Dev’s music will add a lot to this play.

The last album Hynes released as Blood Orange was Negro Swan, which came out in 2018.
