Diplo Resolves Legal Dispute Over Sexual Assault Accusation

Diplo and Shelly Auguste are close to settling a long legal battle involving serious accusations such as sexual assault, stalking, and revenge porn, as reported by Rolling Stone.

Shelly met Diplo online back in 2014 when she was just 17. Fast forward to 2020, she sought a temporary restraining order against him. Not long after, Diplo got one against her too, with his lawyer saying she’d been bothering him and his family for over a year.

In early 2021, they both agreed not to badmouth each other through restraining orders. But by next year an arbitrator said Shelly broke that deal. This led to her owing Diplo $1.2 million. As Rolling Stone noted: “It’s not clear what the status of the award was when the parties entered negotiations for the new global resolution.”

Their lawsuits started popping up after those restraining orders were set but before that big money decision came down. In April 2021, Diplo took legal action against Shelly for things like stalking and sharing private stuff without permission. Then in June, Shelly hit back with her own lawsuit claiming he assaulted her while she was super drunk in July 2019. A few months later, Diplo denied these claims publicly.

Apart from all this court drama, Shelly also went to the police accusing Diplo of distributing revenge porn twice—once in July 2021 and again in August 2023—but no charges were pressed by Los Angeles city attorneys either time.
