Drake Ends Legal Dispute with Spotify & Universal Over Streams

Drake decided to drop his lawsuit against Spotify and Universal Music Group, where he claimed they were inflating the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us.”

After Drake’s legal action in New York was met with a strong counter from Spotify, which dismissed the accusations as an abuse of the legal system, he chose to pull back. UMG also denied any wrongdoing. Drakeโ€™s company, Frozen Moments LLC, agreed to withdraw without any party having to pay costs. Meanwhile, another case is still ongoing in Texas against UMG and iHeartRadio. This one argues that UMG should have stopped the song because it falsely accuses him of terrible things like being a sex offender and other criminal acts. It also claims that payments were made to iHeartRadio for promotion in a shady way.

Fans sometimes wonder why celebrities get into such complicated fights over music stuff.

Spotify seems fine with Drake stepping back from this case but UMG has not yet fully commented on their stance.
