Dropkick Murphys Not Banned From X Over MAGA Hat Incident

In Boston, during a show, Ken Casey from Dropkick Murphys had some strong words for Donald Trump and Elon Musk while also pointing out someone in the crowd wearing a white “Make America Great Again” hat.

Casey didn’t hold back, calling the black version of the “MAGA” hat—the one Musk wears—the “Elon Musk true Nazi edition,” and he even said Trump supporters seemed like they were in a “cult.” He shouted, “This is America. There’s no kings here!”

People are buzzing about whether Dropkick Murphys got kicked off X because of their anti-Trump views and what Casey said on stage. But it turns out their account has been gone for quite some time now.

Fans sometimes wonder if musicians should just focus on music instead of politics.

“We broke up with [Elon Musk] first,” Ken Casey mentioned in an announcement. “We quit Twitter in 2022 when he was only half a Nazi.”

Casey added that someone else took over their handle pretending to be them, which led to legal action to stop it. That’s why @dropkickmurphys looks suspended now. He pointed out that they left because they didn’t want to be part of Musk’s empire but guessed they’d be banned by now if they were still there.

Dropkick Murphys aren’t alone; lots of musicians have left X due to Musk’s ownership. He’s faced backlash for doing things like making gestures at a Trump event that seemed similar to those used by Nazis and fascists, as The New York Times reported. Other artists like Jack White, Neil Young, and Trent Reznor have also stepped away from X.
