A mysterious teaser was released last week, and now the first trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie, One Battle After Another, is here.
The film tells the story of Bob Ferguson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a former revolutionary on a quest to find his lost daughter. We also catch glimpses of Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn in the trailer. The music in the clip is from Jonny Greenwood’s score. You can watch it below.
Mark your calendars for Friday, September 26, when One Battle After Another arrives in theaters. It follows Anderson’s previous film from 2021 called Licorice Pizza. Just like that movie, this one features Alana Haim as well as Junglepussy (Shayna McHayle). Other stars include Regina Hall, Chase Infiniti, and Wood Harris.
The script for this film was penned by Anderson himself and takes inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s book Vineland. Filming took place mostly in California and Texas using 35-millimeter VistaVision cameras.
“I’m incredibly lucky that Paul indulges me and gives me so much time to experiment and compose,” Jonny Greenwood shared with The Guardian during an interview in 2024 about his long-time collaboration with Anderson since their work on the award-winning film There Will Be Blood. “That’s not usually the case in Hollywood.”
Fans think it’s cool how directors and composers work together to make movies special.
