Gel Disbands Over Guitarist Anthony Webster’s Alleged Misconduct

Gel, a hardcore band from New Jersey, has decided to call it quits.

After missing several performances, guitarist Anthony Webster’s actions have been called “heinous” by the rest of Gel’s members in a social media post where they also announced the band’s end. They found his behavior unacceptable and harmful to their group. When asked for more information, Gel’s team chose not to add anything further.

The band also mentioned that all future shows are canceled. This includes their planned tours with Spiritbox, Volbeat, and Anxious, as well as their appearances at Coachella next month.

Back in 2018, some guys from Sick Shit—Matthew Bobko on guitar, Zach Miller on drums, and Anthony Webster—teamed up with singer Sami Kaiser to start Gel as a fun side project focused on hardcore punk. They dropped a demo tape and an EP that year before Madison Nave joined as another guitarist. Over time, they released two more EPs: Violent Closure in 2021 and Persona in 2024; plus an album called Only Constant came out in 2023.

I think fans will miss seeing them live.
