HBO Unveils Yacht Rock Documentary Trailer

HBO is preparing to drop a fresh documentary called Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary on November 29, diving into the smooth tunes of soft rock from the ’70s and how it’s been rediscovered lately.

This film, crafted by Garret Priceโ€”who also brought us Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage, Daisy Jones & the Six, and Love, Antoshaโ€”is produced alongside Adam Gibbs and Madison Cross with executive producers Jody Gerson, Marc Cimino, Bill Simmons. Geoff Chow and Sean Fennessey join as co-executive producers.

Not only do the likes of Michael McDonald and Steely Dan make an appearance in this documentary, but there are also chats with other music stars like Prince Paul from De La Soul, Brian Robert Jones who plays guitar for Paramore and Vampire Weekend when they tour, Thundercat, Questlove, Mac DeMarco, Fred Armisen. Plus many more voices from music critics to journalists get their say.

Fans find it fascinating how old songs can become trendy again.

I wonder if yacht rock will ever sail into our playlists or just drift away into memory.
