James Krivchenia of Big Thief Announces Album, Releases New Song

James Krivchenia, known for playing drums with Big Thief, is dropping a new solo album that’s quite different from the usual.

Teaming up with Sam Wilkes on electric bass and Joshua Abrams, who plays all sorts of instruments including the double bass, James is bringing us Performing Belief. You can check out their track “Probably Wizards” below. The album comes out May 2 through Planet Mu and mixes sounds from all over the place—like synthesizers and drum machines—to create something unique. This follows his 2022 release Blood Karaoke, which was made using YouTube clips.

If you’re in Brooklyn on June 17, head to Elsewhere to catch James performing his new music live at Zone One.

Fans think it’s cool when artists try new things like this.
