Deadline has revealed that KJ Apa will star as Bradley Nowell in the long-awaited Sublime biopic.
Justin Chon, known for Blue Bayou, is stepping in to direct and co-write the script with Bobby Hundreds, using an initial draft by Chris Mundy. Initially announced in 2022, Francis Lawrence was set to direct but now serves as an executive producer. Original band members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson, along with Nowell’s son Jakob and widow Troy, are also on board as executive producers.
KJ Apa, famous for his role as Archie on Riverdale, has been eyeing this part for two years. Besides acting, he’s a musician who dropped his debut album Clocks in 2021.
I think fans are really excited about this casting choice.
The blend of music and drama should make for a compelling watch.
