Lady Gaga Performs Abracadabra & Killah on SNL

Lady Gaga took on the roles of both host and musical performer during last night’s Saturday Night Live, right after dropping her latest album, Mayhem.

She dazzled with “Abracadabra” inside a glowing box and kicked off “Killah” in the backstage halls before joining her band on stage for a quick outfit swap. Her skits were just as wild, featuring her as a funeral home boss, singing about saying “slay” too much, and leading some spooky fun at a Friendly’s birthday bash.

In her opening joke, she quipped about hosting back in 2013: “The last time I hosted was in 2013, and every aspect of my performance… aged amazingly,” adding humorously that no one should search for ‘SNL 2013 Lady Gaga featuring R. Kelly.’ She also poked fun at winning a Razzie with Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux and shared how her mom introduced her to her fiancé. You can catch all of Gaga’s antics, including her promo video with Bowen Yang, online.

This marked only the second time Gaga has hosted SNL, though she’s graced its stage as the musical guest five times. Before Mayhem‘s release, she wowed audiences with “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick before the 2025 Super Bowl and teamed up with Bruno Mars to sing “California Dreamin’” at the Grammys that same year—where they snagged Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Die With a Smile.” At Radio City Music Hall’s big bash for SNL‘s 50th birthday last month, she joined Andy Samberg to belt out Lonely Island’s classic tune “Dick in a Box.”

Fans really love seeing these stars take on new challenges.

This season marks the golden anniversary of SNL, kicking off in September. Before Gaga’s turn this week, Timothée Chalamet and Charli XCX had already done double duty this season. Last week’s tunes came courtesy of Tate McRae. To mark its half-century milestone , rolled out not just an epic concert special but also aired an extravagant three-hour live show called <, showcasing musical acts like Paul Simon alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Lil Wayne jamming out, plus Paul McCartney rocking it!
