Lonnie Holley, the musician from Alabama, is releasing a new album called Tonky on March 21 through Jagjaguwar.
The first song he shared from this collection is โProtest With Love,โ featuring artists like Jacknife Lee and the Legendary Ingramettes, and it even has its own music video for everyone to enjoy. This album isn’t just any regular one; it’s packed with stars such as Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse, rapper billy woods, Mary Lattimore, and more. Even though the name Tonky might sound like it belongs to country music, it’s actually named after Holley’s childhood nickname when he lived in a honky-tonk for some years.
Fans sometimes wonder how artists come up with such unique ideas.
I think it’s cool that Holley mixes so many different voices in his songs!
