Magnetic Fields’ 69 Love Songs Inspires Broadway Comedy All In by Simon Rich

Last week, Seaview and Lorne Michaels shared some news about the Broadway show All In: Comedy About Love by Simon Rich.

Directed by Alex Timbers and starring John Mulaney, it will premiere at New Yorkโ€™s Hudson Theatre on Wednesday, December 11. Now, the Bengsons have joined the production to perform songs from the Magnetic Fields. Simon Rich said in a press release that โ€œ69 Love Songs, by the Magnetic Fields, directly inspired me to write the love stories that became All In. Stephin Merritt is my favorite living songwriter, and heโ€™s probably better than all the dead ones I like, too.โ€

Merritt also shared his excitement with Rolling Stone, saying, โ€œI am excited to see how this famous humorist has used my songs. Itโ€™s always fun to see how actors interpret them, and if I werenโ€™t on tour, Iโ€™d be sneaking into rehearsals, pretending to be a stagehand.โ€

All In: Comedy About Love by Simon Rich is described as a series of funny stories about dating and marriage woes adapted from Simon Rich’s short stories. The show will run for ten weeks with different actors like Fred Armisen, Renรฉe Elise Goldsberry, Chloe Fineman from SNL, and Richard Kind taking turns performing.

I think people are really going to enjoy this unique mix of comedy and music.
