Nilüfer Yanya just dropped a fresh track called “Cold Heart,” which she worked on with Wilma Archer after finishing up her latest tour.
After taking a break from the road, she circled back to a bunch of songs, and that’s when “Cold Heart” started to take shape—her first new release since My Method Actor came out last year. It’s funny how songs can surprise you; Nilüfer said, “This one turned out pretty different to how I imagined it,” and she also shared, “The initial melody felt very spacious, like there’s room for anything to happen. It felt like a kind of experiment.”
Fans think it’s cool when artists try new things, even if it’s risky.
There’s a wild summer coming up for Nilüfer, since she’s hitting the road again to play songs from My Method Actor at a bunch of festivals—Glastonbury, Green Man, All Points East, and a whole bunch more are on her list. Sometimes, I wonder how musicians remember all their lyrics with so many shows lined up.
By the way, My Method Actor landed at number 13 on a list called “The 50 Best Albums of 2024,” which is pretty awesome.
