Oasis dropped a mysterious teaser on social media today, fueling rumors of a reunion.
The video showed the date 27.08.24 and the time 8 a.m., but no time zone was given. If Oasis gets back together, it will be their first performance in 15 years after Liam and Noel Gallagher’s constant fighting kept them apart.
On August 24, The Sunday Times reported that “industry insiders” believe Oasis will reunite in 2025 for ten shows at Wembley Stadium and more concerts at Heaton Park in Manchester. As fans buzzed about this on X, Liam Gallagher replied with comments like โNews to me,โ โI know nothing,โ and โYour scared how do you think I feel.โ When someone called Heaton Park a “terrible venue,” he shot back, โSee you down the front you big fanny.โ At Reading Festival on August 23, he dedicated “Half the World Away” to โNoel fucking Gallagher.โ
When they broke up in 2009, Oasis included Liam and Noel Gallagher, guitarist Gem Archer, and bassist Andy Bell. That year saw an explosive argument between the brothers that led to canceling their Rock en Seine gig just hours before showtime. Noel announced his departure with: โIt is with some sadness and great reliefโฆ I quit Oasis tonight… I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.โ
Fans have been hoping for an Oasis reunion for years now without success. Noel once said he’d consider reuniting for ยฃ100 million ($135 million), while Liam claimed he’d do it for free.
This year is special because it’s the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe. To celebrate, they’re releasing a special reissue of the album on August 30.
I think we all miss those classic songs from our younger days.
