Playboi Carti’s album, Music, has rocketed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
This Atlanta artist now celebrates his second time hitting number one, following Whole Lotta Red, with a whopping 298,000 equivalent albums sold in just seven days, as shared by Billboard through Luminate. Every single one of the 30 tracks on Music has also made its way onto the Billboard Hot 100. This makes Playboi Carti a trailblazer as the first rapper ever and only the third artist overall to achieve this with an album that boasts over 30 songs. Before him, Taylor Swift saw all her songs from The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology charted, as did Morgan Wallen with his tracks from One Thing at a Time.
The standout tunes from Music, “Evil J0rdan” and “Rather Lie” featuring The Weeknd, grabbed spots at Nos. 2 and 4 respectively. “Evil J0rdan” was streamed a massive 30.8 million times while “Rather Lie” had an impressive count of 26.6 million streams according to Billboard.. Not every song soared; for instance, “Walk” started its journey at No. 96 on the chart. In addition to these successes, Playboi Carti’s other track “Timeless” from Hurry Up Tomorrow, sits comfortably at No. 23 after spending an incredible quarter of a year on the charts!
The world got their hands on Playboi Carti’s new jam-packed collection called Music.. Released on March 14th, it features big names like Kendrick Lamar and Future alongside others such as Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug—what an epic lineup! And guess what? Just today (March 25), he dropped even more tunes in a deluxe edition titled “Music – Sorry 4 da Wait”, which includes fresh tracks like “Different Day,” “2024,” “Backr00ms,” and “FOMDJ.” Check them out below!
