Rio da Yung OG Freed from Federal Prison

On Wednesday, December 11, Rio da Yung OG walked out of an Arkansas federal prison.

After pleading guilty to having a gun linked to drug trafficking, he faced a 60-month sentence. Now, instead of staying in prison, he’s moving to โ€œcommunity confinement,โ€ which means living in a halfway house or at home until his release on July 12, 2025. After that date, heโ€™ll be under supervision for another year and a half.

Back in 2019, Rio and some others were charged by a grand jury in Michigan. He started his prison time two years later. While locked up, he still dropped music now and then; fans could listen to albums like Fiend Lives Matter and Rio Circa 2020. We think it’s cool how artists keep sharing their work even when life gets tough.

The excitement is building as Rio plans to celebrate his freedom with a big concert at Detroitโ€™s Masonic Temple on January 11.
