Scottish DJ Jackmaster Dies at 38

Jack Revill, known as Jackmaster, passed away after an accidental head injury in Ibiza, his family shared on Instagram.

Their heartfelt message expressed gratitude for the love from friends and fans but asked for privacy during this tough time. At 38, Jackmaster left a big mark on electronic music. He was always pushing music boundaries at Numbers label and Rubadub Records in Glasgow, helping new artists shine. His mixes were electric, blending different styles that wowed fans everywhere.

“His talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJs sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of peers and fans across the globe. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible.”

Though he made beats too, DJing was his true calling. People loved how he mixed tracks from all over when he played at clubs or big festivals; it inspired many up-and-coming DJs.

Fans really admired how much energy he put into every set; it felt like magic to us sometimes.

Growing up in Glasgow since 1986, Jackmaster learned DJ skills from his buddy Calum Morton. As a teen working at Rubadub record shop at just 14 years old, instead of money for work hours, he chose records—a smart move that helped him climb up in the music scene!

“I just fucking loved music so much and it was all I was ever doing,” he told Resident Advisor in 2014. “I never had to buy any records again… There was stuff for the Fabric mix that I would have never got if not for Rubadub…”
