Spellling Releases New Album ‘Portrait of My Heart’ with Video

Spellling is set to release her new album, Portrait of My Heart, on March 28 through Sacred Bones.

Chrystia Cabral, known for her unique style, has shared the first song from the album, also called โ€œPortrait of My Heart.โ€ She teamed up with Ambar Navarro to create a music video for it. The tour supporting the album will begin in April.

“When I wrote the lyrics for this song, everything started shifting towards more energy and less of that dreamy vibe I often use,” Cabral explained about her latest track.

She added: “It turned into something more intense and focused. I feel really connected to it because it changed so much. It’s like it went through a transformation. That’s what I aim for in my workโ€”timelessness. It could be anything but right now, it’s this.” Navarro’s video shows how deep an artist can get caught up in their own creative world.

The band backing Cabral on tour includes Wyatt Overson playing guitar, Patrick Shelley on drums, and Giulio Xavier Cetto handling bass duties; they all helped record Portrait of My Heart. Drew Vandenberg mixed the tracks with producer Psymun and Rob Bisel who has worked with SZA before.

This album features voices from Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi in โ€œMount Analogue,โ€ while Pat McCrory from Turnstile plays guitar on โ€œAlibi,โ€ and Zulus Braxton Marcellous contributes to โ€œDrain.โ€

Fans love when artists draw inspiration from unusual places like Dracula or tarot cards; it’s always fascinating!
