On January 19, just a day before President Trump’s second inauguration, Spotify threw a brunch with famous folks like Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, and Riley Green.
Spotify told Bloomberg in an email that they often host events in Washington, D.C., and other big cities to bring together all kinds of people from politics and media. It’s nothing out of the ordinary for them.
Besides the brunch fun, Sweden’s Dagens Nyheter shared that Spotify chipped in $150,000 for the inauguration party. Meanwhile, Apple and Amazon went big with donations of $1 million each to support Trumpโs event, according to Variety.
“Our donation is about growing our presence in Washington,” said Spotify in Swedish. “It’s part of what we do everywhere to push our platform’s goals forward.”
A spokesperson also mentioned to Pitchfork that their donation was specifically for the Presidential Inauguration Committee.
The whole event had lots of music too! Carrie Underwood sang her heart out alongside Lee Greenwood and opera star Christopher Macchio. And over the weekend leading up to it all? Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Soulja Boy, Jason Aldean, and even the Village People rocked some rally-style shows.
