St. Vincent Releases Spanish Version of All Born Screaming

St. Vincent is releasing a Spanish version of her album, All Born Screaming.

Annie Clark teamed up with filmmaker Alan Del Rio Ortiz, who is also a good friend, to create Todos Nacen Gritando. Ortiz helped her translate the 10 songs from the original album, making small changes for melody. You can listen to the lead single “Hombre Roto,” which is a Spanish take on “Broken Man,” below.

The new vocals were recorded over the original tracks that had contributions from Dave Grohl, Cate Le Bon, Mark Guiliana, Stella Mogzawa, Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, and David Ralicke.

Clark shared what inspired her to make this Spanish-language project:

The origins of Todos Nacen Gritando can be traced back to some of the most memorable shows Iโ€™ve ever played, in Mexico, South America, and recently Primavera Barcelona in 2023. Though separated by time and geography and across a diverse range of settings and venues these crowds were united in their passionโ€”singing every word to every song in perfect English. It was truly inspiring. Eventually I asked myself: If they can sing along in a second or third language why canโ€™t I meet them halfway? So I enlisted my best friend and occasional collaborator Alan Del Rio Ortiz to work on translating these lyrics tweaking here and there for melodic reasons making every effort to stay true to the song at hand without sacrificing accuracy. After much rewriting and re-singing every vocal track on the album the result is Todos Nacen Gritando, equal parts labor of love and tribute to the people who inspired it.

I think it’s awesome when artists try something new like this.

This project really shows how music connects everyone no matter where they are from .
