Stevie Nicks Releases New Abortion Rights Anthem Video The Lighthouse

Stevie Nicks just dropped a new song called โ€œThe Lighthouse.โ€

She penned it after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. The music video shows clips from womenโ€™s marches and rallies for abortion rights, with protesters holding signs like โ€œKeep Abortion Legalโ€ and โ€œGet Mad,โ€ while Nicks leads them on a beach march.

Nicks shared, โ€œI wrote this song a few months after Roe v. Wade was overturned.โ€ She added:

“It seemed like overnight, people were saying โ€˜what can we, as a collective force, do about thisโ€ฆ.โ€™ For me, it was to write a song. It took a while because I was on the road. Then early one morning I was watching the news on TV and a certain newscaster said something that felt like she was talking to me ~ explaining what the loss of Roe v Wade would come to mean. I wrote the song the next morning and recorded it that night.”

“That was September 6, 2022. I have been working on it ever since. I have often said to myself, โ€˜This may be the most important thing I ever do. To stand up for the women of the United States and their daughters and granddaughters ~ and the men that love them.โ€™”

This is an anthem.

The track sees collaboration with Magnus Birgersson and Vincent Villuis in writing duties; production credits go to Dave Cobb alongside Sheryl Crow who also plays bass and guitar.

Nicks will perform as SNLโ€™s musical guest on October 12 when Ariana Grande hostsโ€”her first time back since 1983!
