The Locust Reissue The Peel Sessions

Exciting news! The Locust are bringing back their last album, The Peel Sessions, with a fresh twist by Three One G on January 24.

Justin Pearson from The Locust shared, โ€œRecording a Peel session for John Peel was one of the many surreal things that the Locust got to do during its lifetime.” He added that they were so busy touring in 2001 that they didn’t have much time to prepare for it.

He also remembered arriving in London after a long drive, spending all day recording, and then rushing off to Europe that night. Despite the chaos, it was special because it captured both old and new songs and marked a big change when Gabe Serbian switched from guitar/vocals to drums. This changed the band’s style completely. Later on, Sonny Kay designed the album’s look like those classic Peel Sessions albums we all loved growing up. It felt amazing being noticed by John Peel and even more incredible recording at BBC1 for him.

The Locust started out in 1994 and quickly got famous for wild concerts, mixing grindcore with new wave music while dressed as bugs. Their third studio album called New Erections came out in 2007; three years later, they released The Peel Sessions. Although no new tunes have come from them since then due to Gabe Serbianโ€™s passing in 2022 ending their journey together.

I think fans really miss hearing new stuff from them.
