The Waterboys have teamed up with Fiona Apple, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, and others to create a special album dedicated to Dennis Hopper’s legacy.
Mike Scott from the Waterboys shared that Dennis Hopper’s life mirrored the journey of our times. He was there at the dawn of youth culture with movies like Rebel Without a Cause alongside James Dean and was involved in early Pop Art movements with Andy Warhol. In the ’60s, he embraced counter-culture and civil rights movements. The ’70s and ’80s were a whirlwind for himโhe nearly lost everything but came back strong, acting in several films each year without losing his unique spark. This album isn’t just about Hopper; it’s about what it means to be human on this wild planet.
Other artists joining this project after their 2022 album All Souls Hill are Sugarfoot, Taylor Goldsmith from Dawes, Kathy Valentine from the Go-Goโs, Patti Palladin, Barny Fletcher, and Anana Kaye.
Fans sometimes wonder how all these talented people can come together so seamlessly.
