Waxahatchee & MJ Lenderman Cover Lucinda Williams’ Abandoned

Waxahatchee teamed up with MJ Lenderman to create a fresh take on Lucinda Williams’ “Abandoned” from her album released in 1988.

Katie Crutchfield recorded this track for the Apple Music Nashville Sessions, which is a special three-song EP available only on Apple Music. You can check it out below! This new EP was recorded live and feels very raw, coming after Waxahatchee’s sixth album, Tigers Blood. That album was super popular and included songs like “Right Back to It,” where Lenderman joined in with his guitar and voice, as well as tracks like “Bored” and “365.” They even played “Right Back to It” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert when the album came out.

Fans think it’s really cool how musicians can bring fresh energy to old songs.

Katie also shared that she’s organizing a show at Willie Nelson’s Luck Ranch in Spicewood, Texas. This event is set for March 14 and will have performances by Waxahatchee, Lucinda Williams, Futurebirds, Bill Callahan, Kam Franklin, Brennan Wedl, among others. Take a look at the poster below!
