William Tyler, the guitarist from Nashville, is gearing up to drop a fresh album titled Time Indefinite on April 25 through Psychic Hotline.
Today marks the release of three tracks from this album: “Cabin Six,” “Concern,” and “Star of Hope.” Each song comes with its own mini-movie made from his family’s old home videos. You can watch them below and find more details about the tracklist and album cover.
Back in 2020, while cleaning out his grandfather’s office in Jackson, Mississippi, Tyler stumbled upon an ancient tape machine. He brought it back to Nashville and worked with Jake Davis to turn it into cool tape loops for “Cabin Six.”
On the other hand, “Star of Hope” was inspired by a hymn he heard on AM radio. Tyler shared his thoughts: “I’m always fascinated by the often random origin stories of ‘sacred melodies.’ The melody of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ being an old English drinking song.”
Fans think it’s exciting when artists use unexpected things like that!
This new project is his first solo album since Goes West, which came out in 2019. Since then, he has been busy working with others like Impossible Truth and Marisa Anderson, plus he even scored music for Kelly Reichardt’s movie First Cow.
